Deborah Valcin

("Catharsis")

Stephen Morris is a great composer who listens to free flowing ideas and is able to interpret them in his own style in a way that fits the project perfectly. Stephen is a creative soul with a passion towards elevating his projects and creating work that can have you listening to the score on repeat during editing for fun!

("HELP!")

Stephen Morris is more than a composer. In a short time he gained my utmost respect as a cinephile, creative collaborator, and friend. From our first conversation, I knew my film was in the hands of someone who knows and loves movies from all eras and genres. Stephen understood right away how to nail the exact tone and capture yet subvert all the Old Hollywood references I had been seeking for months. And while I do not command a great vocabulary of music theory & language, Stephen made me feel completely at ease talking through every note, fade, or refrain. He was always down to try out every bit of feedback. There were no bad ideas in our brainstorming. It was all in service to making our movie emotionally and stylistically rich. I truly couldn’t have made my Hitchcock-inspired project without Stephen bringing the orchestra of my dreams to life on the big screen. If you get a chance to work with him, take it!
